IPNews® – Apple obtained a patent on Tuesday for a method of automatically triggering settings on a wireless device like an iPhone or iPad based on the device’s location.

The patent, titled “Apparatus and methods for enforcement of policies upon a wireless device,” allows for ways of changing device settings when an event occurs like the device’s association with an access point. In this way, GPS, cellular signals and Wi-Fi networks could all be used to dictate a device’s actions in certain situations.
